English Electric Gas Turbine Prototype Locomotive - GT3

Introduced in May 1961, this prototype locomotive was built using a steam locomotive 4-6-0 chassis. The loco, on loan to BR, was used on many lines in the London Midland Region of BR, until withdrawn from service in October 1962. EE removed most of the equipment and the body was cut up by T.W. Wards of Salford in February 1966.

BUILT: 1961 by English Electric, Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows.
