Introduced in March 1956 by Ruston & Hornsby, this was a fleet of only two 0-4-0 diesel-mechanical locomotives which were based on a design dating from the 1940s. Both were allocated to Immingham Depot (40B) on BR's Eastern Region when new. D2957 was withdrawn in March 1967 from Starbeck Depot (50D) and cut up in August of the same year. D2958 was withdrawn from Stratford Depot (30A) in January 1968 and was sold to the scrap merchant, C F Booth of Rotherham where it was used as the yard pilot, surviving until October 1984 when it finally met the cutter's torch.
