Class 02 Profile


British Railways Diesel Shunter

Introduced in September 1960, this fleet of 20 shunters were constructed for use in docks or areas with a restricted loading gauge. They were the only locos constructed with a verandah. The first withdrawals were in December 1969, with the final loco D2852 - see picture below, being withdrawn in October 1973. There are numerous locos preserved, including D2860 at the National Railway Museum, York.
